Stirrups and Smiles is a 501(c)3 federally certified, not-for-profit organization, founded to provide special needs participants, of all ages and abilities, the chance to develop their full potential through Equine Assisted Therapy.  

Historically, the therapeutic benefits of the horse were recognized as early as 460 BC.  The therapeutic qualities of horseback riding have long been recognized by many medical professionals, including the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association. The Arkansas State Department of Health released a report in 2001, which identified approximately 26% of Arkansas residents as disabled.   This is the latest report.

Stirrups and Smiles is a NARHA (North American Riding for Handicapped Association) member center which insures that the required guidelines established by NARHA are followed.
