Jan 27, 2012
SEARCY, Ark. — Dr. Travis McNeal, assistant professor of behavioral science at Harding University, has accepted a new role of leadership. McNeal is the new director of Camp Tahkodah in Floral, Ark.

A Nashville native, McNeal graduated from Harding in 1994 and joined the University faculty in 2009. He has a Ph.D. and is licensed in clinical psychology. McNeal began his involvement with Camp Tahkodah in 1993 as a camp counselor. Prior to this position, he was an adult volunteer and last year became assistant director.

As director, McNeal is responsible for developing themes for each summer with coordinating Bible lesson topics. He is also responsible for recruiting and scheduling adult volunteer staff members, recruiting and hiring counselors, distributing brochures to prospective campers, and processing camper registrations.

“I am so thankful to get to work alongside so many people who I have an incredible amount of respect for, including the counselors, volunteers and staff,” McNeal said. “I am especially grateful for the past leadership that has nurtured Tahkodah into what it is today. It has become the ministry in my life about which I am most passionate, and I feel honored to be chosen to lead this important work.”

Owned and operated by Harding University, Camp Tahkodah is a place for kids and teens to learn and grow with people who love the Lord and are living daily for him. Its location in the Ozark Mountains provides beautiful bluffs, quiet valleys, a spring-fed creek and wooded hiking trails. This 1,350-acre campground also offers a wide variety of outdoor activities for campers to participate in during each session.

With an enrollment of more than 7,100 students, Harding is the largest private university in Arkansas and attracts more National Merit Scholars than any other private university in the state. Harding also maintains campuses in Australia, Chile, England, France, Greece, Italy and Zambia. For more information visit www.harding.edu.
