Harding University appoints new board member
Feb 03, 2012
SEARCY, Ark. — At their recent fall board meeting, Harding University board of trustees appointed John Reese as a new member.

Reese grew up as a child of missionaries in Zimbabwe. He first came to the United States in 1969 to attend Harding College. He married Beth Paden of Ennis, Texas, in 1972 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and French in 1974. After completing his undergraduate degree, Reese went on to earn a Master of Education from Harding in 1975.

Reese was a missionary in Zimbabwe from 1976-78. He then began mission work in South Africa until 1991. During his time in South Africa, Reese took a year off in 1985 to serve as the visiting missionary at Harding. When he returned to South Africa in 1986, he and Beth became the first full-time U.S. missionary family on the field specializing in World Bible School (WBS) follow-up.

In 1991, the couple joined WBS in Austin, Texas, and produced a new curriculum for the organization. Since 2006, Reese has served as president of WBS. He continues to speak and teach at seminars, lectureships and churches. Both he and Beth serve on Harding’s Advisory Council for the Center for World Missions. All four of their children and their spouses graduated from Harding and are involved in mission work throughout the world.

With an enrollment of more than 7,100 students, Harding is the largest private university in Arkansas and attracts more National Merit Scholars than any other private university in the state. Harding also maintains campuses in Australia, Chile, England, France, Greece, Italy and Zambia. For more information visit www.harding.edu.
